Progress in the Garden

Happy GTS to all! Can you believe it's JULY??? How did that happen?
It's hard to believe in the Dallas area, as temps are milder and the rain won't stop.
Maybe it's time for an ark-building 101 class? It's been hard to take any photos, but I got a few in between the raindrops. Right now, we have 6 inches of standing water right off the screened porch!

Though it's a dreary backdrop, the flowers are loving all the rain.
Everything is lush, which is unusual for this time of year.

Irridescent pink 4 O'Clock

Mexican Petunia.

I now have a huge bed of these, though a year ago there were only SIX plants! Some consider these invasive, but they're easily pulled up and passed along.

Truly a work in progress. This is yesterday in my very wet backyard.

This is a photo of when the beds were first dug this Spring.
I now wish I had done 'before' photos, but it was too
depressing!

Outside my Screened Porch.
This has changed the way we use our backyard.
We eat dinner out here and I start and end each day here. We are going to build an arbor over the front of the porch to help protect the grill a little. I already have the two Sweet Autumn Clematis' planted that will climb over it...how's that for optimistic?!

View from the inside...
When that Wax Myrtle grows up, I hopefully won't have
to look at the neighbor's house. I would prefer a porch overlooking a pond in the country,
but I am smack dab in the middle of suburbia. You take what you can get.

Croquet, anyone?

Ain't it the truth???

Great pictures of your garden. we have had downpours and flooding in the UK. I really enjoy croquet and I like the garden sign too.

Looks like you are having the same problems that we are having, rain, rain and more rain

Looks like your garden is doing great! We badly need rain. The fence makes a nice backdrop for the plants.

It would be nice if we all got enough rain, instead of too much or too little, but that isn't happening anywhere this year, is it Chris?

You've made quite a change already - sure hope the Southern Wax Myrtle gets going for you soon and since screening neighboring houses is also my big priority, I can sympathize with your desire to 'erase' them from your view. We may like the people just fine, but we don't want to see their dwellings in our gardens!!

Chris you have a very nice place. But I'm most jealous of your 4'0 clocks. This is my second year of zero germination with seeds.

Hope y'all had a good GTS!

Arc building 101, I like it as I need one too! ;-)

Your garden is really coming along nicely...how wonderful to have those beds all along the fence to use as your palette for planting your own little paradise, even in the middle of suburbia. :-)

Great photos! I just got your questions about my drip irrigation system. I will post about it. I love it by the way. I think everyone should have one. Take care!

Loved the mini tour of your garden. Hard to believe it's only been in for a short while.
We could sure use some of that rain. It's been about 120 days since we've seen a drop!

I think you've done a great job with the back gardens. The flowers are looking good. I wish I had a screened-in porch too!! I hope you are still blogging and didn't get flooded out.

I live in Japan. Your yard is wonderful. I like your Screened porch. I think that I will imitate and build your Screened Porch. I will send a photograph, if it is made. A sprout is now beautiful in my yard. Please see my yard by my blog. http://iyasaka.blogspot.com/ Supposing you can do, please link to me.
